    This farm that Robert settled on, around 1790, was kept in the family up until 1950; passed down from Robert to his son Joseph, then to his grandson Gilbert, and finally to his great grandson Joseph

    • Per the History of Barnet Vermont by Fredrick Wells

      Robert and Margaret sailed for America a few days after their marriage and reached Barnet VT in August 1784, settling on the farm still owned by their great-great grandson, Joseph Blair, which has been in the family without change.

      His name is on the call to Rev. David Goodwillie, July 5, 1790. In the census of that year he is given as having a wife and three children. In the earliest list of communicants to the Center Church are both their names.
